PT. Kaltim Prima Coal once again wins the highest award, which is the Best Sustainability Report Overall in ISRA (Indonesian Sustainability Report Award) 2009 event, in December 2009, Jakarta. ISRA is an event initiated by the Indonesian Institute for Management Accounting (IAMI), the Indonesian Netherlands Association (INA), and the National Center for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR).
The award was accepted directly by KPC Chief Operating Officer (COO), R Utoro

Since its participation in ISRA 2007, KPC has received the award twice. The first award was achieved in 2007; KPC received the Best Sustainability Reporting Award. The next year, KPC received the runner up position. However, the best citation once again was achieved in 2009. Moreover, in ISRA 2009, KPC also received 2 more awards, they were The Best Sustainability Report for A category (Agriculture, Plantation, Mining and Basic Industry, and Chemicals Companies) and Commendation for Sustainability Reporting-Assurance Practices.

KPC report was declared the best report because it was considered more open in describing the economic, social, and environmental performance by using GRI (Global Report Initiative) standard. Furthermore, it was also verified by an independent third party (SGS-Societe Generalle de Surveillance) so that the reliability of its data could be accounted for. The report was also considered transparent in presenting the challenges and improvements made by KPC, and it also described the qualitative and quantitative data on economic, environmental and social performance.

The success of PT Kaltim Prima Coal in developing CSR programs regains much attention from society. At this moment, SGS Indonesia, an international company for audit and certification services, specifically awarded the SGS Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award.
